Before you translate or read from this wiki...
Wise words from a wise man
First of all, you should read this, as this aligns with our ethos of "Well Translated, Paranoid Quality Assurance" as a group, and we hope this aligns with you as a translator, subtitler, or clipper:
Before You Translate… by lyger: https://lyger.github.io/scripts/vtuber/translating.html
tl;dr: You speak for the VTuber, your words and choices as the translator or clipper are the VTuber's words as far as people are concerned. You hold a make-or-break responsibility for the VTuber you create for. It is a great power that comes with great responsibility, so you better take good care of it, or else. Do all that you can, with the help of others, to do right by the VTuber you create for.
Making clips as a group
We as HoloResort Translations are one of the few VTuber fansub groups out there. You may have also seen some other names floating around, such as Aonahara Translations, yamete kudasubs, Kawazoi Translations, and a couple others. This is in contrast to the majority of the VTuber fansubbing scene, which mostly compose of solo fansubbers.
As a group, we believe in "Well Translated, Paranoid Quality Assurance". We will stall, and we can't make clips as fast as everyone else, but we can at least be proud of the work that we put out.
This is a wiki written by a group for everyone
This wiki will have documentation with the context of a group setting. We are modeled around a workflow that is similar to anime fansub groups, and as such, we have the following roles:
- Translator (TL)
- Translation Checker (TLC)
- Proofreader (PR) (in anime fansub groups, this is known as the Editor (ED))
- Subtitler (SUB) (in anime fansub groups, this is a combination of the Timer (TM) and Typesetter (TS) roles)
- Subtitles Quality Checker (SQC or SubQC)
- Video Editor (VE or ED)
- Quality Checker (QC)
- Thumbnail Artist (TB)
Despite that, we wrote the contents of this wiki with a focus on our individual roles. We hope that the contents of this wiki will help you hone your skills in the roles that you can do, get you interested in the roles you may be able to do in the future, and help you improve as a subber, whether you are on your own or you are participating in a group.
